Client Oriented Design (skr. COD) je jeden zo série teoretických pojmov definujúcich špecifický prístup k riešeniu dizajnových problémov. Na rozdiel od ostatných (ako napr. Human Centered Design), COD kladie na prvé miesto klienta a jeho špecifické požiadavky. Úspešnosť riešenia sa preto nemeria štandardnými metrikami, ale mierou spokojnosti klienta. Tá väčšinou spočíva v rýchlosti dodania, okamžitej odozve v komunikácii, alebo v schopnosti plniť nezmyselné požiadavky. Názorovému trenie sa neuplatňuje.
Dôležitou súčasťou COD je počiatočný kvalitatívny výskum, ktorý sa realizuje výhradne z aktuálnych domnienok, pocitov a výtvarného cítenia klienta, jeho kolegov a jeho najbližších rodinných príslušníkov. Pokiaľ sa na strane klienta nachádza viac ako jeden človek, tak uprednostňujeme názory toho najvyššie postaveného.
Napriek tomu, že pojem pozná len málo dizajnérov, jeho teoretický základ je veľmi uplatňovaný naprieč všetkými kreatívnymi aj nekreatívnymi priemyslami.

Client Oriented Design (COD) is one of a series of theoretical concepts defining a specific approach to solving design problems. Unlike the others (such as Human Centered Design), COD puts the client and their specific requirements first. Therefore, the success of the solution is not measured by standard metrics, but by a measure of client satisfaction. The latter is usually based on speed of delivery, immediate responsiveness in communication, or the ability to fulfill nonsensical requests. Opinion friction does not apply.
An important part of COD is the initial qualitative research, which is conducted solely from the current assumptions, feelings and artistic sensibilities of the client, their colleagues and their immediate family members. If there is more than one person on the client’s side, we give priority to the views of the most senior person.
Although few designers are familiar with the term, its theoretical basis is widely applied across all creative and non-creative industries.
